How do you not realize how shitty you sound.
Remember, these are the people with such severe cognitive dissonance that they openly said “Chloe Bennet might be Chinese-American but she’s not playing a mixed race character on the show, and she barely even looks Asian" and yet somehow were shocked and upset when people explained how horrifically racist they were being.
I still have to go and remind myself that actually happened from time to time, because I convince myself that it’s so unreal that it couldn’t possibly have been true.
If you haven’t read it yet, then you should. This scene is empowering and inspiring, not just for women, but for anyone who feels a connection with the sentiment.
We all wear badges, labels and masks. Some we choose to wear, others are with us from birth. It’s up to us to define what they mean, lest others do it for us.
